When I get to teach I think this idea would be great and i hope to use a similar example. Kids who are older and need more "legs", or their circle sections, to count a caterpillar might be a good idea. It is fun, creative, and colorful.
Click on the blog below. I like how this blog has problems to practice.

I agree, pictures, colors, activities, and examples eye catching. I think it is a great way to get the attention of children or students with things that they are familiar with but are open as well to new material. The octopus example was great because students at a certain age level are pre-exposed to different shapes and animals. Great way to start the introduction to subtraction.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a great way to help kids learn the fundamentals of math

I enjoyed that lesson because it is very effective. It was a great way to draw the attention of the children. It was also a great way to get the children involved in the activity. Being involved helps keep their attention. Making it fun also helps too!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for those comments! I was sooo nervous!
